ROSSIGNOL PLANS HEAVY R & D INVESTMENTS.


Predicting a 5-7 per cent increase in sales but steadyprofits, Rossignol says it will have some FFr 60 million ($11.86mm) in extra R&D charges to accelerate the introduction ofnew bindings and in-line skates. Also, some FFr 35 million ($6.91mm) additional is budgeted for production facilities in the SkisDynastar modernization.

Aggressive expansion of 70 per cent in snowboards,in-lines and ice skates are contemplated this year.Meanwhile, unit sales of alpine skis should be flat but highermargins are anticipated because of the hourglass.
