PUMA BUYING COBRA GOLF FROM FORTUNE BRANDS.


The acquisition by Puma includes the Cobra brand,inventory, intellectual property and endorsement contracts. The purchase pricewasn’t immediately disclosed. The deal, while expected to close by June 30,will still leave a large part of FO’s remaining golf businesses (Titleist andFootJoy), tied to Cobra for an undisclosed period. Since Puma has noinfrastructure in place for golf, Fortune Brands will continue to provide anumber of back-end functions for Cobra, including sales, presumably under somesort of service contract for an unspecified period that will likely include the2010 U.S. golf season.
