PRO PLAYER ASSETS SOLD FOR $6.6 MILLION.
Schottenstein Stores/Value City, which also bought the Starter inventory, paid $5.3 million for the inventory rights. Perry Ellis, after a brief bidding spat with Schottenstein over the intellectual property, upped its bid to $1.3 million from $1.0 million for the trademarks and designs of the brand. Pro Player has been winding down its unprofitable operations under the Fruit of the Loom bankruptcy.
