PACSUN’S Q1 NET RISES 18%; WILL ADD KEY PRODUCTS TO LIFT COMPS.


The net income gain to $17,607,000 from $14,969,000surpassed a 3.0% same store sales increase for the period ended April 30. Totalsales were 14% higher at $279,985,000 versus $245,501,000 as the retailerpassed the 1,000-door mark with 23 net openings in Q1. PSUN management citedslowness in the key swim and short category in Mar.-Apr. period, perhaps due toweather, as product shortfalls in men’s long sleeve polos and key brands BabyPhat and Apple Bottoms also contributed to the low single-digit comparablestore sales gain. There was a high single digit increase in the average retailticket.
