OCT. COMPS RANGE FROM FLAT TO UP LOW SINGLE DIGITS.


Pacific Sunwear was a clear exception to the comptrend among reporting retailers. Same store sales at PACSUN declined 7.1% forthe four weeks ended Oct. 28, falling 6.1% in Pacific Sunwear banners and 12.2%in d.e.m.o. doors as most teen retailers had a soft month. Total monthly saleswere essentially flat at $88.2 million vs. $88.0 million. In the PacificSunwear banner, guys’ apparel was up mid single digits on strength in basic andbranded fleece and long sleeve knits but girls’ apparel was off high singledigits on continued significant weakness in short-sleeve T’s, fashion denim andknits.
