OBITUARY: GEORGES SALOMON.


The man who founded the sports company bearing hisname died Oct. 5. He was 85 and had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease forsome time. Long considered a visionary in the business, Salomon started hisbusiness ventures in 1947 with his father, making wooden skis out of a smallworkshop in Annecy, France. His commitment to innovation was legendary in thewinter sports business, where he built a small manufacturing operation into theglobal leader in winter sports.
