NIKE FUTURES UP 4 PER CENT, FIRST GAIN IN SEVEN QUARTERS.
The news, at or slightly better than expectations, was mixed from a regional standpoint. In the $4.2 billion of worldwide futures, Europe continues to shine with a 22 per cent increase and Asia/Pacific rose 19 per cent against depressed levels of the prior year. U.S. futures fell 5 per cent, pulled down by a 28 per cent decline in apparel futures, and the Americas was down 10 per cent.
