NIKE FUTURES RISE 11% IN STRONG Q1.


Neither competitive mergers nor a fashion shift tofusion seemed to have any impact on the Eager Beavertons as they reportedrecord net income and revenues. Futures orders, meanwhile, rose to $4.9billion, driven by exceptionally strong demand in the U.S. sneaker business.U.S. futures rose 12%; European futures rose 4%; Asia/Pacific futures rose 15%;and Americas futures rose 32%. Nike said it expected to hit the higher end ofits earnings targets of mid-teens earnings growth on high single digit salesgrowth for the year, which certainly seems cautious in light of Q1 and thefutures.
