MORE GRAVITY-DEFYING RESULTS FROM NIKE; FUTURES UP 11%.


Despite signs that the weak U.S. economy was taking atoll, the Eager Beavertons’ performance outside its home market was so strongthat they achieved a 32 increase in profit to $463.8 million from $350.8million on a 16% revenue increase for the period ended Feb. 29. Both top andbottom line were well beyond the E.B.s’ targets, and futures rose a healthy 11%to $6.9 billion with U.S. orders up 1%, Europe up 12% (9% constant currency),Asia/Pacific up 32% (25% C$) and Americas up 20% (20% C$).
