JAPANESE FORECASTS: ASICS GOES UP, MIZUNO GOES DOWN.
Asics continues to predict consolidated sales of¥135.00 billion (US$1.12 billion) for the year ended Mar. 31, but it is nowpredicting net earnings of ¥4.80 billion ($39.8 mm), against an earlierforecast of ¥3.50 billion. For the year ended Mar. 31, 2002, Asics earned ¥2.12billion on sales of ¥128.90 billion. The group also says it will pay a dividendof ¥2 (1.7¢) per share; no dividend was paid last year. In response to thenews, Asics stock hit a one-year high of ¥195 Apr. 21, well above the 200-daymoving average of ¥119.
