HIBBETT SPORTS’ NET RISES 16%, SEES IMPROVED TRENDS IN Q3.


Net income climbed 16% to $4,681,000 against$4,020,000 for the period ended Aug. 4. Total sales grew 9.6% to $114,404,000from $104,363,000 as comparable store sales increased 2.6%. Q2 gross marginsimproved 150 b.p. to 32.8% from 31.3%.

HIBB said Under Armour and Nike continued to performwell in apparel and are expected to grow their percentage of HIBB’s business inH2. Licensed apparel continued to underperform in Q2 but a lift from NCAAmerchandise is expected as the college football season opens. Footwear was downlow single-digits, with classics soft.
