GROWING MERRELL BRAND IS A WOLVERINE BRIGHT SPOT.

The brand, which has carved out a leading market share position in the fledgling aprés sport footwear category, is on track to double its FY revenues and has a current internal forecast of 35 per cent topline growth in FY01. Merrell had $72 million in FY99 revenues, according to SGI estimates. Parent Wolverine Worldwide, in reporting flat Q3 earnings of $11.7 million before non-recurring charges, said Merrell produced "strong [sales] gains" in the 12-week period ended Sep. 9 without offering specifics.
