BRUNSWICK Q2 NET RISES 16%.


Besides the gain in net income to $53.6 million, Q2saw a 40 basis point improvement in operating margins to 8.1% and a 12% rise inoperating earnings to $87.2 million. Total revenues increased 5% to $1,071million from $1,017 million. BC management steers clear of predicting aneconomic upturn, but says it doesn’t expect conditions to worsen. To that end,the company narrows its FY03 EPS forecast to $1.45-1.50 from $1.40-1.50. The Q3EPS assumption is 35-40¢, 35-54% higher than the year prior’s 26¢ a share.
