ADIDAS-SALOMON NET RISES, BUT U.S. ISSUES REMAIN.


Strong results in Europe more than offset a dismal performance in the U.S. market, where the company acknowledges that the adidas brand suffered from over-distribution of its heritage product. First half sales for the group fell 17% in Euros (+1% Constant Currency) in North America, and backlog for the adidas brand fell 23% (-12% CC) with a 22% decline in sneaker orders (-11% CC) and a 25% decline in apparel (-14% CC).
